1 - CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION
The Trail of Porto Moniz is a Trail Running event, which will take place in the Municipality of Porto Moniz on February 20, 2022, and which includes 3 events: Trail Ultra (48km), Long Trail (26km) and the Short Trail (12km), all linear.
-The minimum age to participate in the event is 16 years for the Short Trail, 18 years for the Long Trail and 20 years for the Trail Ultra, made until December 31, 2021.
-Inscription in one of the events of the Trail event of Porto Moniz implies to understand and accept without reservation the rules and regulations of the event.
In particular, it is necessary to: -Register correctly on the event website .
– Participants registered in the Trail of Porto Moniz , at the time of their registration, will have to indicate that they have read the respective regulation and that they agree with it without exceptions, thus declaring to participate voluntarily and under their own responsibility in the competition. Therefore, they agree not to complain to the authorities, employees, sponsors and other participants of any responsibility and in everything that exceeds the coverage of the policy. This act replaces the usual paper Disclaimer . In the case of underage athletes , the Term of Responsibility must be delivered on paper, which must be completed and signed by a parent or guardian and delivered to the organization when the kit is collected participation.
-Proceed to pay the respective registration fee, and it is not necessary to send the respective proof of payment.
Participants must:
-Be aware of the distance and particularities of the event in which they are going to participate and be sufficiently trained to complete the event.
-Have acquired, before the race, a real ability of self-sufficiency in mountain, which allows the management of the problems induced by this type of race, namely in terms of changes in weather conditions (night, wind, cold, fog, rain or snow) ), as well as the ability to be autonomous between two service stations, not only in food but also in clothing and security.
-The participants will have to know how to face physical and mental problems resulting from extreme fatigue, digestive and joint problems and muscle pain, etc.
– Be aware that it is not the role of the organization to help a participant to overcome these problems and that this depends mainly on their ability to adapt to the problematic situations resulting from this type of event.
-Participants are allowed to receive personal assistance provided by only one person, and only at checkpoints / filling stations previously defined by the organization.
-The bib must be permanently visible during the entire race, that is, it must be positioned on the clothes, in the chest or abdomen area and cannot, for any reason, be fixed on the leg or on the back. The sponsors’ name and logo cannot be modified or hidden.
-Only participants with visible bib will have access to control / supply posts.
– Failure to observe these rules will result in the penalty provided for in Article 2.11.
-The Trail of Porto Moniz, is carried out in absolute respect for nature, promotes and privileges, above all, fair play .
-It is essential that participants help anyone in danger and alert the nearest checkpoint or contact the organization.
-The organizing entity reserves the right to exclude from the race, even before its start, any participant who, through its behavior, conditions the management and / or the proper functioning of the event. If this occurs, the athlete will not be reimbursed.
– Unsportsmanlike conduct will be sanctioned according to its degree of severity, as stipulated in article 2.11.
2 - THE RACE
O Trail do Porto Moniz é um evento de Trail Running, que irá decorrer no Concelho do Porto Moniz no dia 20 de Fevereiro de 2022, e que integra 3 provas: Trail Ultra (48km), Trail Longo (26km) e o Trail Curto (12km), todas de formato linear.
-The Trail Ultra event (48km), which is part of the Trail Ultra Circuit, is also part of the Trail Ultra Championship 2021/2022 of the RAM Athletics Association and is also part of the National Trail Ultra Circuit of ATRP.
-The Long Trail race (26km), integrates the Long Trail Circuit of the RAM Athletics Association and the National Trail Circuit of the ATRP.
-The Short Trail race (12km), integrates the Short Trail Circuit of the RAM Athletics Association and the National Trail Sprint Circuit of ATRP.
-The organizing entity reserves 50 places in each event to fulfill its commitments to elite athletes and to the event’s official sponsors.
-The organizer also reserves the right to reduce the number of places for security reasons or for any other reason that may affect the proper functioning of the race. All changes will be announced in advance on the official website and social media.

-The organization will soon make available the GPS tracks of the course of the tests, however, on the day of the race the signs placed on the ground will always prevail.
-The Trail of Porto Moniz is an event that includes three single-stage events, with time limit for execution.
-The hourly barriers are calculated to allow participants to reach the goal line in the imposed time limit, already counting possible stops (rest, supplies, etc.).
-To be allowed to continue in the race, participants must arrive and leave the checkpoint before its closure, otherwise they will be prevented from proceeding and consequently will be disqualified.
-Any participant excluded from the race and who wishes to continue, can only do so by handing over a part of the chest, detachable for the purpose, continuing with their own responsibility and in complete autonomy.
-For reasons of force majeure (weather , security ) , the organization reserves the right to change hourly barriers.
-An electronic time control system will be used. At the checkpoints there will be an electronic station that will record the passage of athletes.
-The participants’ chest includes a chip, which makes it possible to record the athlete’s passage.
-In addition to the electronic control, there will also be manual control of the passage record.
-The starting area will be delimited with metal barriers. Participants will be required to enter this area at the places marked for chip control. No participant can enter the starting zone without checking the chip.
-In the starting zone, the clock will start counting at the set time, with or without the presence of the participants. Participants who are not present within 15 minutes of their departure time or who show up after this period, will be prevented from leaving and, as such, will not be classified.
-If the pandemic scenario remains at the date of the event, the start of each event will be made in small groups of athletes and separated in time. The use of a mask will be mandatory in the first 100 meters of the course.

-Os abandonos devem ser feitos única e exclusivamente nos postos de controlo. Na eventualidade de um acidente ou lesão em que o participante esteja imobilizado e não consegue alcançar um posto de controlo, deve ativar a operação de salvamento, entrando em contacto com a organização.
-O número de contacto da organização, para efeitos de emergência, estará impresso no peitoral do participante e deverá ser igualmente gravado antecipadamente no telemóvel do participante.
-A organização reserva-se o direito de alterar a qualquer momento o percurso e a posição dos postos de controlo / abastecimento, sem aviso prévio. Em caso de condições climáticas fortemente adversas a partida pode ser atrasada no máximo duas horas, período após o qual, a prova é cancelada. Não haverá direito a reembolso.
-Durante a prova, em caso de mau tempo, e por razões de segurança, a organização reserva-se o direito de modificar as barreiras horárias e, ou, de suspender, reduzir, neutralizar ou parar a prova. Não haverá direito a reembolso.
-Fuel stations will provide participants with food and drink to be consumed on site. Although other drinks are available on site, only water will be provided to fill participants’ tanks and other containers. Each participant must make sure, when leaving each filling station, that they have the quantity of food and drink necessary to reach the next filling.
-There will be first aid positioned at some checkpoints. It is essential that participants help anyone in danger, alert the nearest checkpoint and / or contact the organization.
-If the pandemic scenario remains at the date of the event, it will be mandatory to use a mask inside the supplies.
-During the competition, all participants must be accompanied by all mandatory material. At any time during the race, the directors or heads of control can check the same. The participant will have to accept these controls peacefully, without contesting, under penalty of being excluded from the race, according to the list of penalties in article 2.11.
-The first 5 (five) athletes of the general, male and female, of all events will be mandatorily inspected, after the conclusion of the same.

-For security reasons, it is recommended that participants check their material in order to make sure that it is in perfect condition for the test.
-The responsibility of ensuring and accompanying the mandatory material during the race rests with the participants.
-Since there will be no cut in road traffic, participants must comply with the traffic rules in cities and roads for public use, as well as respect agricultural areas and private properties, under penalty of having to assume potential damages and compensation resulting from the non-compliance.
The direction of the race and the heads of control present in the controls are responsible for the application of the rules and regulations that govern the race, and therefore they are authorized to apply the penalties and disqualifications set out in the table below.

– Participants in the Porto Moniz Trail event tests accept to participate voluntarily and under their own responsibility in the competition. Consequently, they agree not to claim or demand from the organization, employees, authorities, sponsors and other participants any responsibility towards them and their heirs, in everything that exceeds the coverage of their responsibilities, that of their employees and participants.
-The organizer takes out civil liability and personal accident insurance for the duration of the event. This insurance guarantees coverage of your responsibilities, those of your employees and participants.

-In the event of an accident, the participant must first contact the organization, which will arrange for them to be referred to the medical institution most suited to their state of health, together with the claim form with the respective policy number , stamped and signed by the club (insurance policyholder). Sometimes, and given the urgency/severity of some accidents, it becomes impossible to fill in the form for the claim. In these circumstances, the claim can be dealt with after completing the first aid to the participant.
-Any and any expense document related to a claim that has already been filed will be previously settled by the respective claimant and its originals sent to the insurer for later reimbursement, the total amount to be reimbursed will be retained by the insurer with respect to the deductible.
-The organization will not assume expenses for claims, of which it did not become aware in a timely manner to activate the insurance.
3 - REGISTRATION
-Only entries made on the platform indicated on the website https://trailportomoniz.com/ will be accepted.
-Each participant must correctly fill in the registration form and pay the fee within the stipulated period, being the participant responsible for the veracity of their data.
-The organization is not responsible for any denials of responsibility, by the insurer, resulting from the incorrect insertion of data in the registration form by the participant.
-The payment methods available are: Credit Card, Debit Card and MB net.
-It is not necessary to send proof of payment.
-After confirmation of payment, the athlete’s name will be valid in the updated entry list.
-Payment of the registration fee implies a seat reservation.

– The first day of registration is exclusive to ATRP members .
– Athletes affiliated to AARAM – Associação de Atletismo da RAM benefit, in the normal registration period, from a 10% discount on the value of the respective registration fee.

-After February 7, 2022, no changes are allowed.
-It is allowed to change the registration of the event, whenever there is availability. This change can only be made until February 7, 2022.
-If the change is for a test with a higher registration fee, the differential will be paid. If it is for an event with a lower entry fee, the differential will not be refunded.
– Reimbursement or the transfer of registration to another person can be requested when a participant has proven to be unable to take the test, provided that it is associated with an accident or an illness diagnosed after registration in the test.
-The cancellation or transfer of registration must be requested by email, using the same address used in the participant’s registration, to [email protected] or alternatively, by registered letter to the Clube de Montanha office in Funchal, Rua da Cooperativa Agrícola do Funchal, Bloco D, 2º E, 9050-555 Funchal. A medical certificate must be attached to this request.
-Cancellations by phone will not be accepted.

For Check-in, participants must present the following documents:
– Identity ticket / Citizen Card or Passport.
-Terms of responsibility (in paper format, completed and signed by himself).
– Declaration of the parent / guardian duly signed in case the athlete is a minor.
3.6 Services provided
– Personal accident insurance. The values of the coverage and deductible (under the responsibility of the victim) of the personal accident insurance will be announced up to 15 days before the start of the event;
-Supply of solids and liquids, while in competition, at the designated stations;
-Medical assistance, at the designated stations;
-Transportation from the place of concentration to the starting area of the Long Trail and Short Trail events;
-Transport to the arrival, in case of abandonment or being prevented by the organization from continuing in the race;
-Relaxation massage service is foreseen after the race, upon payment of € 5.00 by the athlete. If the pandemic scenario remains at the date of the event, this service may not exist.
4 - CATEGORIES AND AWARDS
-The prize-giving ceremonies will take place on February 7, next to the Porto Moniz Multiusos Building and will be held by tasting and at different times. Short Trail at 2 pm, Long Trail at 4 pm and Ultra Trail at 6 pm.
Classifications and Awards:
– There will be an arrival prize (Finisher Medal) for all participants who complete their test.
-The different three races will be won by the athletes who add the shortest time at the end of the races, added to the appropriate penalties, if any.
-For the three tests, only participants who control all checkpoints and cut the finish line within the stipulated time will be classified.
-The determination of the classification by teams will be made based on the three best classifications of the respective athletes.
-There will be no cash prizes.
-The organization will not send trophies, by postal mail or other means of distribution.
-For each event there will be an individual female and male classification to the general, by step and collective, as follows:

-The first three classified to the Men’s and Women’s general of Trail Longo will also be awarded as champions of the Regional Trail Championship 2020/2021.
-The steps to be adopted in the Trail of Porto Moniz are governed by the regulations of the FPA – Portuguese Athletics Federation.

– For the purposes of classification and scoring of (the ) athletes in the ranks of veterans (as), the age will be considered the (a) athlete on race day, ie February 20, 2022.
-If the pandemic situation persists at the date of the event, the awarded athletes must wear a mask on the podium.
-All and any claim must be made in writing and sent to the race director, accompanied by a deposit of € 50.00 (non-refundable if the claim is dismissed) up to two hours after the arrival of the participant in question. The complaint must contain the name of the claimant, BI / CC number or passport, name of the affected participant, number of the breastplate and alleged reasons. Provisional classifications may also be the subject of a complaint, 30 minutes after publication.
-The Jury, which will analyze the complaint, is composed of the race director, who presides, the president or vice president of the organizing club and a personality of recognized merit in the trail running area.
-The Jury will rule before the official results are posted.
– Participants also have a 24-hour deadline for submitting classification complaints.
5 - INFORMATION NOTES AND CHANGES IMAGE AND ADVERTISING RIGHTS

Image and Advertising Rights
-The organizer reserves the exclusive right to exploit the image of the Trail do Porto Moniz event and the photographic and journalistic audiovisuals of the event. Any project or advertising media produced for publication must obtain the prior consent of the organization.
-It is mandatory to use the advertising material provided by the organization (breastplate, stickers, etc.). Modifying, folding or hiding the advertising material will be penalized.
Data Protection
-The data of the participants indicated in the registration form will be registered by the organizing entity for the purposes of processing the event, namely, insurance company, list of subscribers, news and classification. All participants can exercise their right to access, rectify or cancel their personal data by sending an email to [email protected]
-If the participant is an associate of ATRP – Portuguese Trail-Running Association, the registration act presupposes authorization for his data to be transmitted for the purpose of preparing the classification, statistics and evaluation of the event, procedures of the responsibility of that Association.
Modifications
-These rules can be edited, changed or improved at any time by the organizing entity, without prior notice. The fact of making your registration implies the acceptance of this regulation.
Others
-Considering trail running as a form of physical and psychological demand, especially for ULTRA tests and not being possible when preparing the test, to quantify the real weather conditions at the time of the tests, the organization is always in favor of the safety of the athletes and elements of the organization, reinforces that it reserves the right to change at any time the route that presents the greatest technical and altitude difficulties, also as a result of this, the position of the checkpoints / supply, without warning prior.
